BayCreate is a group of people of all ages and abilities with a shared love of our beautiful North-East coast. We are co-creating the BayCreate project in partnership with Whitley Bay Big Local and Barnardos The BASE young people’s centre. BayCreate aims to make connections and build friendships across generations by sharing our stories and experiences of the North East coast and finding commonalities between different age groups. We want to work together as a community to transform our stories and experiences into artwork. We hope to improve people’s wellbeing and reduce isolation and loneliness through our project.

BayCreate will focus on:

  • Nature: Wildlife, the ever-changing coastal scenery and weather.

  • Conservation: The use of recycled and natural materials in artwork, protecting the ocean and landscape and bringing disused structures back to life.

  • Heritage: Local history, iconic landmarks and talented local people.

  • Inclusivity: Accessible art for all ages and abilities, understanding and celebrating each other as we are and building a sense of community and connection.

Come and be part of our project group  . We need your help to shape the project and make it meaningful.

BayCreate  is funded by Spirit of 2012, the fund was designed and managed by Spirit of 2012’s Youth Advisory Panel. Bay Create stood out to the panel for its detailed knowledge of Whitley Bay, exciting local partnerships and creative vision.
