Sunday 7th March – Science at the Coast

  • Ecology of the Coastline. Especially for British Science Week, Local resident Dr. John Simnett visits our local beach and explains about the ecology. Watch the video here.

  • BBC radio podcast: Infinite Monkey Cage: Coral Reefs. Brian Cox and Robin Ince are joined on stage by Marcus Brigstocke and marine biologists Prof Callum Roberts and Dr Heather Koldewey to look at the magic and wonder of coral.

  • The RNLI saves lives at Sea . They build their own boats in Poole, Dorset and there is a raft of activity available to undertake activities with children of all ages and stages:

  • In North Tyneside we have two lifeboat stations, the nearest being Cullercoats. At 10.30am on Sunday 7th March, on Facebook, members of the Cullercoats crew will run a live video plus Q and A session about their volunteering roles and include how science is important.
